Lead Technical Artist

Responsibilities

As our Lead Technical Artist, you will work with our team to refine the graphics and animation of our games from both an artistic and technical perspective. You’ll act as a bridge between our art team and engineers, using your technical skills to achieve artistic expression and help bring our game worlds to life.

Responsibilities
■Propose and implement technological approaches to achieve artistic expression in Unity 3D.
■Develop and optimize workflows, pipelines, and material networks to increase efficiency and optimize output.
■Manage and execute technically challenging tasks to ensure timely completion.
■Develop scripts, plugins, and performance shaders to streamline production processes and achieve desired visual output.
■Identify and improve art asset inefficiencies and optimize game performance through collaboration with engineers and artists.
■Collaborate closely with artists, designers, and programmers on all tasks, serving as a bridge between the two disciplines and with prototyping teams.
■Provide mentorship, creative feedback, and best practices for technical art development.
■Effectively communicate task progress and status to stakeholders.

Skills & Requirements
■2+ years of experience as a Senior Technical Artist in professional game development.
■Practical experience in CG production using tools such as Maya and Blender.
■Strong knowledge of shader development and rendering for specific platforms.
■Experience in developing for mobile hardware and understand limitations and performance profiling and optimization (CPU and/or GPU).
■Proficient in scripting languages such as C# and JavaScript.
■Excellent communication skills to express artists’ ideas, propose and create new techniques, and explain in an understandable way.
■Keep up with new technologies and translate them into technical implementations for the game development team.
■Emphasize team development and collaborate with staff from other disciplines.
■English speaking and writing skills required.
■Native Japanese Speaker or Equivalent to JLPT N1 Level in Japanese
■Applicants must be residents of Japan

Would be Appreciated
■Experienced in Houdini procedural workflows.
■Experience using Substance Designer.
■Familiarity with infrastructure such as networks, servers, and databases.
■Passionate about continuous learning and improving skills in various technologies.
■Ability to lead and motivate the Technical Art team to enhance their capabilities.
